About the Owner

Jay Frigoletto is an award-winning, veteran mastering engineer, having owned high-end mastering studios in both Los Angeles and Atlanta. In late 2005 he completed a new state-of-the-art mastering facility northwest of Boston, catering both to major labels and independent artists. His clients have included a who's who of artists in rock, hip hop, jazz, latin, and country, including Alice in Chains, Ani DiFranco, Oasis, India.Arie, Black Eyed Peas, Blondie, INXS, Shinedown, Crossfade, Damage Plan, Saliva, Tesla, Clay Walker, The Yellowjackets, Spock's Beard, Soraya, Intocable, Kumbia Kings, and the X-Men 2 soundtrack. Albums Jay has mastered have earned a Grammy award, several Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, gold and multi-platinum record awards. He is also an accomplished pianist, multi-instrumentalist, and alumnus of Berklee College of Music.

He began as a touring and recording musician, later moving into engineering. Choosing the mastering specialty in 1992, he apprenticed at a mastering facility and then struck out on his own. Answering the growing demand for his mastering services from clients including Arrested Development, Speech, and DARP, Jay built Atlanta's first dedicated high-end mastering facility in 1996. Jay was actively involved in the music community through organizations like NARAS, lecturing on digital audio and surround sound, and helping to support the growth and prosperity of Atlanta's music scene, particularly the rising Neo-Soul movement with artists like India Arie, Donnie, and LRoc.

In summer of 1999 Jay moved to Los Angeles and soon served clients including Babyface, Giant Records and Clay Walker, for whom he lent his skills to the top ten country single, "Chain Of Love". He soon began work on a new independent mastering studio, collaboraing with the SSL 9000J equipped Studio Atlantis on an adjunct complex with 5 smaller independent studios, while mastering out of Sony Music Studios in Santa Monica until the project's completion. The new studio also attracted the attention of former A&M chief of mastering, Dave Collins, who based himself at Mastersuite L.A. starting in December, 2002. Jay continued to operate the studio through summer 2004, working on projects including the X-Men 2 soundtrack, Blondie, INXS, War, Fu Manchu, Intocable (two #1 Latin albums), Maverick, Rhino, Warner Brothers, EMI, Inside Out, Telarc/Heads Up, Trauma, Beyond Music/Universal, and a large variety of independent clients.
